New Academic Council to Be Formed at HSE University in March
On February 28, 2024, HSE University's Academic Council held the final meeting with its current members: their term of office is expiring. On March 19, HSE University will host a conference for its employees and students, at which elections will take place, and, by the end of the month, a new composition of the Academic Council will be formed for a five-year term.
Faculty of Computer Science Students Took Top Three Places in Competitive Programming at Games of the Future
The Games of the Future in competitive programming were held in Kazan on February 28th–29th. 50 people from 27 countries took part in the competition. The Russian national team included seven students selected based on the results of the Russian championship organised by the Competitive Programming Federation. The team included three students from Applied Mathematics and Information Science at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science.
Employees and Students of HSE University to Participate in the Games of the Future
A student team from the university will compete in phygital basketball, while faculty members will unveil their research on the current landscape of student esports to the expert community. The Games of the Future's opening ceremony will take place in Kazan on February 21, with the events running until March 3.
‘There Are Many Directions in Which We Can Develop Our Relations with Iran’
On February 12, an official signing ceremony was held for an agreement on the free transfer of literature published by the Organisation for Researching and Composing University Textbooks in the Islamic Sciences and the Humanities under the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran (SAMT) to HSE University. The event took place in the HSE University library on Pokrovsky Bulvar.
HSE University and National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan Agree on Cooperation
In early February, HSE University's campus on Pokrovsky Bulvar hosted a meeting between HSE Vice Rector Victoria Panova and Abay Serikkanov, Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The parties explored potential areas of cooperation and concluded the meeting by signing a memorandum of intent.

Cosmonauts and Neural Networks: Student NIGHT 2024 at HSE
Student NIGHT is a traditional HSE festival organised by Ingroup StS. On January 24–25, 2024, the Pokrovka campus turned into a huge party area, with lectures taking place alongside fitness sessions, a dance floor, quests, and themed clubs. Designer Artemy Lebedev, hip hop singer Antoha MC, and Olympic champions were the headliners of the party.
‘It’s Important to Combine Painting with Modern Technology’
On January 19, the HSE ART GALLERY hosted the opening of a new exhibition, ‘Majors, Minors. Aftertone’, which will last until March 10. The exhibition features works created by students of the HSE Art and Design School as part of their courses on modern painting and creating art projects using photography and neural networks. The exhibition was curated by artists and teachers Olga Chernysheva, Vladislav Efimov, as well as art critic Nicolas Audureau.
‘Carols Gave Me a Good Mood for the Whole Year’
In mid-January, HSE University students kept Russian folk traditions alive by taking part in Christmas carolling. Singing cheerful folk songs and wearing bright outfits, the carollers walked along the university building on Pokrovsky Bulvar, creating a real festive atmosphere. The event was organised by the HSE Heritage Club.
Zaruhi Hakobyan Shortlisted for HSE Alumni Awards
Zaruhi Hakobyan, master’s graduate of the HSE University Faculty of Economic Sciences and research scientist at the University of Luxembourg, is involved not only in research but also in organising academic events for young scientists and students. As a foreign graduate of HSE University, Zaruhi was nominated for the HSE Alumni Awards ‘for her tireless enthusiasm in popularising economic science, teaching, and research at the international level’ and made the shortlist.
