Every year, students who have just finished their second year of the Bachelor’s in Urban Planning of the Faculty of Urban and Regional Development (FURD) at HSE University undertake field work in various Russian regions. They get to know more about cities in detail, learn to identify what’s typical and unique about them, and apply primary data collection methods. This July, the students’ field studies took place in cities in the Urals.
HSE University Students Win Prizes at the International Mathematics Competition for University Students
The 29th International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC 2022) took place in early August in a mixed format in Blagoevgrad (Bulgaria) and online. Eight students of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science and the HSE Faculty of Mathematics won prizes at the competition.

HSE University-Perm Students to Prepare Recommendations on Improving Uralchem Business Processes
Students of the Bachelor’s in Business Administration are working on a project to improve the efficiency of laboratory work at Voskresensk Mineral Fertilizers (VMF). In their six months of working with the company, they have conducted a full study of analytical control schedules, identified the most labour-intensive processes and types of laboratory analysis, and taken part in a poster session in July.

HSE Lyceum Student Wins Silver at International Economics Olympiad
All five participants from Russia received awards at the Fifth International Economics Olympiad for high school students. The students won three gold and two silver awards. Dmitry Monakhov, who graduated from the HSE Lyceum this year, received a silver medal and shared his impressions of the event with the HSE News Service.
MIEM Holds ‘Electronics, Photonics and the Internet of Things’ Summer School
Over three days, the participants learnt about the main subject areas of the master's programmes of the HSE School of Electronic Engineering. About three dozen undergraduate students and graduates from different Russian universities took part in the summer school. Leading MIEM teachers and visiting lecturers from Russian companies were among those who spoke about promising areas of development in electronics, photonics, quantum technologies and the Internet of Things (IoT).
