Among the Top Ten

Leading British newspaper, The Independent, has published a list of the 10 best atlases, which includes the atlas created by a team of authors from the HSE Faculty of Politics.

On May 9th 2012, The Independent, a widely respected British newspaper, listed the top 10 best atlases for education and entertainment.

The list includes the Political Atlas of the Modern World. An Experiment in Multidimensional Statistical Analysis of the Political Systems of the Modern World. Head of the project was Andrei Melville, Dean of the Faculty of Politics. The authors also included Mikhail Ilyin, Elena Meleshkina, Mikhail Mironyuk and other members of the faculty.

How can we compare political systems in contemporary world politics? What measurements can we use to understand the political development of countries whose histories and culture make them so different? The Political Atlas of the Modern World is a unique reference source which addresses these questions by providing a comparative study of the political systems of all 192 countries of the world.

The book was published in Russian in 2007, and in 2010 it was issued in English by Wiley-Blackwell.
